| Caduceus for the Children 18" x 14" / Basswood and Mahogany The Caduceus is one of my favorite symbols. More than just a doctor's symbol, it has a 3000-year-old history. It is Mercury's winged staff, the messenger of the gods! It represents healing and the regeneration of life. Ancient people used this symbol to ward off dangers while traveling. Its mystical qualities are deep and rich. When carving something of this nature, I immerse myself in these qualities and imbue them into my work as a result. There are powerful energies in this world, even our own strands of DNA reflect this helix coil of life! |
